Hope everyone’s summer is summery and at least abstractly relaxing. It’s been pleasantly sweltering here and there’s been some rad recent-ish vinyl & tapes to usher out into kindly homes the world over:
OUTER LIMITS RECORDINGS “FOXY BABY” LP – finally this weirdo smoke opera gets done up in vinyl the right way
LOWLIGHT SITUATIONS “LOW LIGHT SITUATIONS” CS – city terrace supergroup goes nice & noir into their own personal Lynch-y crime beat mindzone
LA VAMPIRES + ZOLA JESUS 12” – cold-edged basement goth-dub? Hard to pin this one down but a beautiful pairing caught on slamming 45 rpm 12 inches. Almost OOP on our end.
HIGH WOLF “ASCENSION” LP – French exotica smeared into fractal formations and dripped with hypno-pop dyes. Forthcoming tours of japan and the US should only spread the love.

HEADS UP FRIENDS: as of TODAY and running until JUNE 27TH we will away on Pocahaunted tour so orders CAN still be placed but they wont be shipped until we return. Also, we'll have limited email access so don't panic if you write & dont hear a reply for a little while, everyone WILL get a response it'll just be slightly delayed.
and once we're home expect a minor avalanche of new NNF music!

One other sliver of NNF-related action is that Pocahaunted's embarking on a 21-show US tour in June (all dates are here: www.myspace.com/pocahaunted) and will be hitting a lot of previously unvisited cities. SO: if you live in one of these hoods and might possibly have a tip on a pleasant place to crash please drop us a line (to pocahaunted@gmail.com) and we will happily barter back a grip of NNF merch in humble gratitude.

In case you weren't aware there is currently a trio of double-format full-lengths available from the NNF coffers for immediate acquisition:

-MAGIC LANTERN "PLATOON" LP/CD
all are the result of mountains of hours of work so please grab them while they're here in the present tense.
OTHER NEWS: the BOTTLED SMOKE 2 FESTIVAL is gettin close, it's May 28th-30th at Synchronicity Space and Echo Curio (shows ping-pong between the 2), please scope their respective websites for full line-up info. There's piles of bands from all over the western sphere and beyond and door prices are confusingly cheap. Please please come out!!
ON DECK: LPs by HIGH WOLF, LA VAMPIRES + ZOLA JESUS, and OUTER LIMITS RECORDINGS are all drawing near as is a small cluster of tapes. More news on those as we get it.

CHECK IT OUT (above). we are coming back to Austin for SXSW 2010 and many great bands/friends are making the journey as well so it should be a repeat blast. the NOT NOT FUN showcase show is FRI MARCH 19th at THE HIDEOUT (where it was last year) and from 8 PM to 1 AM there will be seven crucial performances, please come out if you can, we will be rolling deep with as much merch as is carryable.
ALSO: after the SXSW festivities POCAHAUNTED will be jamming north for a string of shows with Iowa City faves WET HAIR and dystopian LA mystic RENE HELL (aka Jeff Witscher), all dates are posted here, please cruise out if yr feeling it.
ELSEWHERE: PDX garage killers LITTLE CLAW are flying overseas for an extensive EURO tour so all continentalists are encouraged to snatch up some "HUMAN TASTE" and catch their live action. please shoot them an email if you can help out in any sort of way (dearlittleclaw@hotmail.com). dates are thus:

brief update: check out the awesome above live situations taking place in LA the weekend of 1/16-1/17! our friend Lieven/Dolphins Into The Future is flying over from Belgium along with a gang of other rad euro trancers (including Orphan Fairytale) for a first-time ever grip of west coast shows before flying on to Hawaii to jam the Joan Ocean Institute! Please come out, these should be special. New LA locals James & Spencer will be busting special opening sets too. come learn more about dolphin consciousness and the next age new wave.
